The Signing Designer
The Designer is where you place fields onto the source PDF. Open it from a request with Frappe Sign → Open Designer, or from a template (see Templates).
Layout
- Toolbar: Back to Request, Save Fields, Send Request, Reload, Snap on/off, and zoom (− / +).
- Left panel: the request summary, the Signer selector (each signer has a colour), the field palette, and Placed Fields.
- Centre: the PDF, one page under another.
- Right panel: page thumbnails. Click one to jump to that page.
Placing a field
- Choose the signer in the Signer selector. New fields are assigned to whoever is selected.
- Click a field type in Fields, then click on the PDF where it should go, or drag the field type straight onto the page. The field is placed centred on the point you click.
- Drag a field to move it, and drag the small square at its bottom-right corner to resize it. With Snap: On, fields snap to a grid as you move them.
- Repeat for every field you need.
Field types: Signature, Initials, Name, Email, Date, Text and Checkbox. Name, Email and Date are filled in automatically for the signer; Text and Checkbox are completed by the signer.
Placed fields are listed in Placed Fields with their signer, page and position. Remove one with Remove there, or with the red × on the field itself. Click Save Fields when you're done. The status bar shows Unsaved until you do.
Field positions are stored as fractions of the page size, so they stay in the right place at any zoom level.
Scanned and rotated pages
PDFs from scanners often contain pages with a rotation flag. The Designer shows such pages the way any PDF viewer does, and Frappe Sign now applies the same rotation when it stamps the signatures, so fields land exactly where you placed them, upright.
Request mode vs. template mode
- Opened from a Frappe Sign Request, the Designer works with that request's real signer rows and saves to the request. Send Request is available in the toolbar.
- Opened from a Frappe Sign Template, it works with the template's placeholder labels and saves to the template. There is no Send button.
