Creating a Request - From a Frappe Document
Creating a Request - From a Frappe Document
Use this when the document to be signed already lives in Frappe - a contract, a form, an internal record - and its DocType has been added to Configured Source DocTypes.
1. Open the source document
Open any record of a configured DocType. A Frappe Sign button appears in the toolbar automatically - no per-record setup needed.

2. Create the signing request
Click Frappe Sign -> Create Signing Request.

If the DocType has a Default Print Format configured, the request is created immediately using it. Otherwise you'll be prompted to choose one. Frappe Sign renders the document through that Print Format to produce the source PDF, and takes you straight to the new request:

Notice the Attach Signed PDF To Source, Attach Signed PDF Field, and Submit Source On Completion fields already on the request - pre-filled from whatever was configured for this DocType (see Configured Source DocTypes), and still editable here until the request is sent. Once sent, they lock, along with the source document, Print Format, and signing fields, so nobody can quietly redirect a request mid-flight.
3. Continue as normal
From here it's the same as any other request: add signers, open the Designer to place fields, and send - see Signers, Signing Modes & Cohorts, The Signing Designer, and Sending a Request & the Signing Portal.
4. What happens on completion
If Attach Signed PDF To Source was on, the final signed PDF is attached to the source document once the request completes (and dropped into Attach Signed PDF Field, if one was set). If Submit Source On Completion was on and the source document is submittable, it's submitted automatically. See Completing a Request, Certificates & Verification.
