## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Likely cause and fix |
| --- | --- |
| PDF doesn't render in the Designer or signing page | Assets missing or stale: `bench build --app frappe_sign`, clear cache, restart. See **[Installation & Roles](/frappe-sign-docs/installation-roles)**. |
| No **Frappe Sign** button on a document | The DocType isn't configured or enabled, or you lack its **Required Sender Role**. See **[Configured Source DocTypes](/frappe-sign-docs/configured-source-doctypes)**. |
| "The selected signer profile has not given signature consent." | A warning only. The signer will be asked for consent when they open the document. |
| Signer sees "waiting for an earlier signer" | Sequential request; it is not their turn yet. |
| Signer sees "Invalid signing link" | They have already signed, the request is completed, declined, cancelled or expired, or they refreshed the signing page. They should reopen the emailed link. |
| Saving a drawn or uploaded signature fails with a server error | Check that `max_file_size` in `site_config.json` is a **number**, not a quoted string: `bench --site $SITE set-config -p max_file_size 209715200`. |
| Reminders keep going to a request that was abandoned | Cancel it. Requests cancelled or discarded with Frappe's standard actions are now handled too. See **[Cancelling a Request](/frappe-sign-docs/cancelling-a-request)**. |
| "Not permitted … delete permission on File" when removing an attachment | The request has been sent and its PDF is locked. See **[Document Locking & Evidence Protection](/frappe-sign-docs/document-locking)**. |
| Signed PDF not attached to the source, or source not submitted | These run after completion and are best-effort. Check the request's events and the source document's own validation. |
| Emails not arriving | Check the site's outgoing email account and that the scheduler is enabled. |

## Known issues in version 1.1.1

Version 1.1.1 fixed re-signing after a remark, Cancel Request on *Changes Added*, expiry enforcement, locking of the on-completion settings, decline emails to the requester, and the file-permission message some external signers saw. These remain:

1. **Typed signatures render small.** On servers without the DejaVu italic/oblique fonts, typed signatures and initials fall back to a tiny built-in font. Prefer drawn or uploaded signatures where legibility matters.
2. **Attach Signed PDF Field looks blank when a saved Configured DocType row is reopened**, although the stored value is still used. See the tip on **[Configured Source DocTypes](/frappe-sign-docs/configured-source-doctypes)**.
3. **Internal Signers Only and Allow External Signers can both be ticked.** Choose one.
4. **Refreshing a signing page shows "Invalid signing link"**, because the page hides its token from the address bar. Reopen the emailed link.
